Laser Ranging Delay in the Bi-Metric Theory of Gravity

چکیده
We introduce a linearized bi-metric theory of gravity with two metrics. The metric gαβ describes null hypersurfaces of the gravitational field while light moves on null hypersurfaces of the optical metric ḡαβ. Bi-metrism naturally arises in vector-tensor theories with matter being non-minimally coupled to gravity via long-range vector field. We derive explicit Lorentz-invariant solution for a light ray propagating in space-time of the bi-metric theory and disentangle relativistic effects associated with the existence of the two metrics. This anlysis may be valuable for future spaceborne laser missions ASTROD and LATOR dedicated to map various relativistic gravity parameters in the solar system to unparalleled degree of accuracy.

Spherically Symmetric Solutions in a New Braneworld Massive Gravity Theory
In this paper, a combination of the braneworld scenario and covariant de Rham-Gabadadze-Tolley (dRGT) massive Gravity theory is proposed. In this setup, the five-dimensional bulk graviton is considered to be massive. The five dimensional nonlinear ghost-free massive gravity theory affects the 3-brane dynamics and the gravitational potential on the brane. Following the solutions with spherical s...
متن کاملNote on the relationship between the speed of light and gravity in the bi-metric theory of gravity
We analyze the relationship between the speed of light ce and the speed of gravity cg in the bi-metric theory of gravity. We reveal that in this theory the speed of light is a function of the speed of gravity which is a primary fundamental constant. Thus, experimental measurement of ce in the framework of the bi-metric theory is merely a convoluted way to measure cg. PACS numbers: 04.20.Cv, 04....

Relationship between the speed of gravity cg and the speed of light ce in the bi-metric theory of gravity is discussed. We reveal that the speed of light is a function of the speed of gravity which is a primary fundamental constant. Thus, experimental measurement of relativistic bending of light propagating in time-dependent gravitational field directly compares the speed of gravity versus the ...
متن کاملComment on ’ Model - dependence of Shapiro time delay and the ” speed of gravity / speed of light ” controversy ’
In a recent paper published in Class. Quant. Grav., 2004, 21, 3803 Carlip used a vector-tensor theory of gravity to calculate the Shapiro time delay by a moving gravitational lens. He claimed that the relativistic correction of the order of v/c beyond the static part of the Shapiro delay depends on the speed of light c and, hence, the Fomalont-Kopeikin experiment is not sensitive to the speed o...

Deep space laser ranging missions like ASTROD I (Single-Spacecraft Astrodynamical Space Test of Relativity using Optical Devices) and ASTROD, together with astrometry missions like GAIA and LATOR will be able to test relativistic gravity to an unprecedented level of accuracy. More precisely, these missions will enable us to test relativistic gravity to 10−7−10−9 of the size of relativistic (pos...
